A router learns the same destination network from both OSPF and EIGRP. The OSPF route has a metric of 10, and the EIGRP route has a metric of 256. Which route will the router install in the routing table?
Explanation
When routes to the same destination arrive from different protocols, the router compares administrative distance — not metric. EIGRP has a default AD of 90; OSPF has a default AD of 110. Lower AD wins, so the EIGRP route is installed. Metrics are only compared within the same protocol, never across protocols.
